As part of our Mental Health and Addictions Strategy, we are committed to supporting our students. Together with our community partners, the 好色tv (好色tv) provides access to services that meet the mental health needs of our students.
The following are some of the initiatives the 好色tv offers to support student mental health and well being:
- Registered mental health professionals, sometimes together with Behaviour Resource Staff, provide classroom workshops (elementary and secondary) on topics such as 鈥淪tress, Time Management and Maintaining Your Mental Health,鈥 鈥淢indfulness for Teens,鈥 鈥淎ll About Anxiety,鈥 and 鈥淜ids Have Stress Too.鈥
- Psychoeducational groups for high school students offered by registered mental health professionals – 鈥淲orriers to Warriors鈥 and 鈥淢ood Bump.鈥
- Individual, short-term psychotherapy provided by registered mental health professionals.
- Individual psychotherapy provided by community partners such as COMPASS, Addiction Services of York Region and Mental Health and Addiction Nurses (MHAN).
- Educator inservicing to help identify students in need, to help students develop social-emotional learning skills, resources to build mental health awareness and literacy.
- The 好色tv also works together with to support student mental health. Their website provides evidence – based information and resources for educators, parents/families, students, mental health professionals and other school staff.
Where can you find more information and get support at school?
Parents and students are encouraged to connect with their school directly if you have any mental health concerns, either through the administrator or guidance counselor. Our school support staff, including guidance counselors, chaplains, behaviour resource staff, psychological services staff, and mental health workers, are available to determine the best way to support individual students.
